Zack Zublena’s project celebrating Paralympic athletes in gold for Los Angeles 2028 invites New York collectors and art lovers to consider that deeper encounter.

Gold, Resilience, and Victories Beyond the Games

The project will bring together photographic portraits of Paralympic athletes in gold. Through gesture, composition, and carefully shaped light, Zack will celebrate the person behind the achievement. Gold becomes a visual language of recognition: a way of honoring determination, rather than simply echoing a medal.

These victories belong to life as well as sport. They may include beginning again, sustaining a dream through uncertainty, or finding the confidence to pursue an ambition that once seemed distant. Each portrait will make space for an individual story, with strength and vulnerability allowed to coexist.

The message of hope is not that every journey follows the same path. It is that human possibility takes many forms. These athletes are heroes of the Games, but also of the daily decisions and unseen efforts that give their achievements meaning.

A New York Perspective on the Human Figure

New York offers several ways to explore how artists give the human figure meaning. The collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art provide a historical point of comparison, while MoMA offers a framework for considering photography within modern and contemporary art. Against those different traditions, Zack’s proposed athlete portraits ask how a contemporary image can convey both strength and individual presence.

For a closer examination of image-making, the International Center of Photography is a relevant resource. The artistic perspectives presented through the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum also invite viewers to look beyond an image’s immediate appearance. A Portrait Begins with a Person

A French-American fine art photographer and multidisciplinary artist, Zack Zublena began exploring golden human figures in Los Angeles in 2016. In this project, the portrait session will be a collaboration, with attention to each athlete’s expression and presence. The aim is a collection in which different personalities remain visible.

A viewer might first notice the sculptural form, then discover a quieter expression, a moment of balance, or the tension of a gesture. That movement from appearance toward recognition gives the photograph its human depth.

Living with Fine Art Photography in New York

For a New York apartment, loft, or reception area, a strong vertical composition can establish presence without filling every wall. Consider the first view from the doorway, then the quieter experience from a seat. In a compact interior, one carefully scaled work can be more persuasive than an oversized installation.

A Two-Year International Journey

Following the Los Angeles 2028 chapter, the project is planned to travel internationally for two years. The ambition is to bring these portraits into galleries, museums, and public-facing spaces, reaching dedicated art audiences and people who encounter them in passing.

The tour will invite viewers around the world to see these extraordinary people differently: as competitors, individuals, and heroes of everyday life. Confirmed venues and dates will be announced as arrangements are finalized.
