Gold Fine Art for Luxury Interiors in the Gulf: Dubai, Riyadh, Doha, Kuwait City, Muscat & Manama
From the glass towers of Dubai to the white-stone waterfront of Muscat, the Gulf is building some of the most ambitious interiors in the world. Hotels, private villas, majlis lounges and corporate headquarters all ask the same question: what do you place on a wall that has to stand up to marble, brass and a skyline? For a growing number of designers and collectors, the answer is gold fine art photography: luminous, sculptural photographs of human figures covered in reflective gold.

I am Zack Zublena, a French-American fine art photographer based in Los Angeles. For more than a decade I have photographed dancers, yogis, athletes and performers painted entirely in gold, working with light the way a sculptor works with bronze. My photographs are installed across David Lloyd clubs and resorts in the United Kingdom and Europe, in spaces seen by over a million members. Here is why this work belongs in Gulf interiors.

Why gold speaks the language of Gulf luxury
Gold has never been decoration in this region. It is craft, hospitality and heritage, from the gilded calligraphy of historic manuscripts to the warm metallic tones of contemporary hotel lobbies. A gold-toned fine art photograph does not compete with those materials. It completes them. The figure becomes a quiet sculpture on the wall: timeless, human and elegant, with no logo, no trend and no noise.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi: art in a city of icons
The UAE has turned art into infrastructure. Dubai's galleries in Alserkal Avenue and the Dubai Design District sit a short drive from the Burj Khalifa and the Museum of the Future, while Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Cultural District places the Louvre Abu Dhabi, under its famous dome, beside the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the story of the capital. Visitors planning a cultural trip can start with Visit Dubai. For hotel and residential projects in Downtown, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, Yas Island and Al Maryah Island, large-format gold photographs give a lobby, suite or penthouse a focal point that feels collected rather than purchased. Collectors and designers who follow Gulf News, Khaleej Times and The National will recognise the same appetite for art that is both refined and distinctive.
Riyadh: a new cultural capital
Saudi Arabia is reshaping its cultural landscape under Vision 2030. Diriyah, the historic home of the Kingdom's founding, is becoming a major cultural destination, and Riyadh hosts large public art programmes and a fast-growing gallery scene in districts such as JAX. Visit Saudi is a useful starting point for the Kingdom's heritage and culture. Newspapers such as Arab News, Saudi Gazette and Okaz follow this transformation closely. For new hotels, private residences in Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar, and corporate headquarters, gold fine art photography offers a contemporary language of dignity and strength that suits the mood of the moment.
Doha: where museums set the standard
Few cities invest in art like Doha. The Museum of Islamic Art by I. M. Pei, the National Museum of Qatar by Jean Nouvel and the Katara Cultural Village make the city a regional reference for collectors. Exhibitions, institutions and public art are presented by Qatar Museums. Readers of The Peninsula, Gulf Times and Al Raya know how closely art and architecture are linked here. In West Bay, The Pearl-Qatar and Lusail, a gold photograph with real sculptural presence belongs among the finest finishes.
Kuwait City: a long tradition of collecting
Kuwait has one of the Gulf's oldest cultural scenes. The Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre and the wider Kuwait National Cultural District continue that story, and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters keeps its programme visible. Arab Times, Kuwait Times and Al-Qabas regularly cover the country's exhibitions. For residences in Salmiya, Shuwaikh and the Gulf Road corridor, and for hospitality projects across Kuwait City, a discreet gold figure brings calm and depth to a room.
Muscat: elegance without excess
Oman's design culture values proportion and restraint. The Royal Opera House Muscat, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and the Muttrah waterfront show how architecture and craft can coexist with the landscape. Experience Oman is the national tourism reference. Times of Oman, Muscat Daily and Oman Daily follow the Sultanate's cultural life. In boutique hotels, resorts along the Gulf of Oman and private homes in Al Mouj and Qurum, gold photography adds warmth without breaking the quiet of the space.
Manama: heritage and a modern art scene
Bahrain combines the pearling heritage of the Bahrain Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Bahrain National Museum with a lively contemporary scene. The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities presents the Kingdom's heritage and programmes. Gulf Daily News, Daily Tribune and Akhbar Al-Khaleej report on the island's creative community. In Manama, Seef, Juffair and Amwaj Islands, a framed gold fine art photograph can anchor a lounge, a suite or an executive office.
How to choose fine art for a Gulf interior
- Scale: double-height lobbies and grand salons call for large formats, from 150 cm and above.
- Frame and mat: bronze, walnut or black frames with a generous white mat suit marble and warm metals.
- Light: use warm, indirect lighting and avoid direct reflections on glass.
- Edition: limited editions with a certificate protect long-term value for collectors and developers.
Gold fine art for hospitality and private clients
I work with hotels, resorts, interior designers, architects and private collectors, and I understand the constraints of hospitality: durability, guest experience, brand coherence and installation. Each work is a fine art photograph, printed and framed for the space it will live in.
